Invisible Text: Copy and Paste a Blank Character
Press a button, paste anywhere. Each character below shows nothing (or almost nothing) on screen, which makes it the usual way to get invisible text for a blank name, an invisible nickname or an invisible username on Discord, TikTok, Steam or in a game. Free, no sign-up, and nothing is sent anywhere: the copy happens in your own browser.

Invisible character copy paste: pick one
These are real Unicode characters, not pictures. If one is refused, try the next: platforms filter different ones. The code point is listed so you can check what you copied.
Hangul filler
The one most people mean by an invisible name. It is a letter-sized blank that most apps draw as empty space. Often tried for: Discord and TikTok display names, game nicknames.
Braille pattern blank
A Braille cell with no dots raised. It looks like a normal-width space and is rarely trimmed automatically. Often tried for: Steam and game nicknames, bios, places where a plain space is stripped.
Zero-width space
A zero-width space has no width at all, so it is hard to see even if you select it. Many name fields trim or reject it. Often tried for: Splitting a word so a filter does not match it, invisible separators in text.
Halfwidth Hangul filler
The narrow version of the Hangul filler. Try it when the standard one is refused. Often tried for: Name fields that reject U+3164.
Invisible separator
A zero-width character meant to separate items in a list. Like the zero-width space, it often gets filtered. Often tried for: Hidden separators in text.
Em space
A wide, ordinary-looking gap that is technically a space, not a blank letter. Some fields accept it where they reject a blank character. Often tried for: Wide gaps in a bio or caption.
How to use an invisible nickname or invisible username
- Copy one character with its Copy button. Start with the Hangul filler; if it is refused, move to the Braille blank.
- Paste it into the name field of the app. If the name is empty or cannot be saved, the platform is filtering that character: try another.
- Check how it looks to other people, not only in your own settings. Some apps show a blank character as an empty box, a question mark or a normal space.
If you only need to copy an invisible character for a bio or a caption, the buttons above do exactly that: copy invisible character, paste, done. The same blank character can also be used as an empty character in a bio, a caption or a message when you want a gap that a normal space would not keep.
Where it works and where it does not
We do not control any of these platforms, and they change their rules, so this is a list of what people commonly try, not a promise.
- Discord: a blank character is often used for a nickname or a channel-style name. Servers can set their own rules, and a name made only of blank characters can be refused.
- TikTok: people use a blank display name. Usernames (the @handle) only accept letters, numbers, underscores and periods, so a blank character will not work there.
- Steam: a blank profile name is possible with some characters and gets reset by others. Try the Braille blank first.
- Instagram and games: hit and miss. A name that is all blank characters is often rejected, and the game can rename it.
A blank name can be confusing to others and platform rules can forbid it. Using one to impersonate or mislead someone is not what this page is for.
Zero-width space and zero-width character: copy, find, remove
A zero-width space (U+200B), often typed into search as a zero width space without the hyphen, is the best-known zero-width character. You can copy it above if you want one on purpose, for example to break up a word. The reverse problem is more common: a zero-width character you did not mean to paste, which turns up after copying text from a chat window, a PDF or a website and quietly breaks a search, a spreadsheet match or a line of code.
To find and remove those, use the free cleaner. It lists every hidden character it found, with its code point, and takes them out when you press Clean text. Your visible words stay the same. Start on the TextNinja home page, or read the guide to invisible characters in text. If the invisible text came from an AI chat, the AI text remover page explains what is and is not removable.
Questions
Can I copy and paste invisible text?
Yes. Press Copy on any character above and paste it where you need it. Each one is a real Unicode character that takes up little or no visible space: the Hangul filler (U+3164), the Braille pattern blank (U+2800) and the zero-width space (U+200B) are the three people use most.
How do I get an invisible nickname or invisible username?
Copy a blank character from this page and paste it into the name field. Whether it is accepted depends on the platform: some sites reject a name that has no visible character, trim it, or replace it. If one character is refused, try another from the list.
Does an invisible name work on Discord, TikTok and Steam?
Sometimes. People report using a blank character for a Discord nickname, a TikTok display name or a Steam profile name, but each platform decides for itself and changes its rules without notice, so we cannot promise it will work or keep working. Treat it as a quick test, not a guarantee.
What is the difference between an empty character and a blank character?
In practice the words mean the same thing: a character that shows nothing on screen. Technically they are different code points. A zero-width space has no width at all, while the Hangul filler and the Braille blank take up a normal letter-sized gap.
Why does my pasted invisible character show as a box or a space?
The app or font you pasted it into decides how it is drawn. Some fonts draw a missing glyph as an empty box, and some apps normalise unusual characters to an ordinary space. Try a different character from the list.
How do I find or remove a zero-width space or zero-width character I did not mean to paste?
Use the free cleaner on the invisible characters page: paste your text, read which hidden characters it found, and press Clean text. It runs in your browser and your words come back unchanged.
